Jen Guberman Go for it! You've got nothing to lose and so much to gain! Even just knowing you've completed a written work is such a rewarding feeling! Write down your thoughts when they come to you, no matter how bizarre they are. You can always organize, revise, and make sense of them later.
Jen Guberman I love dystopian novels, so I knew the genre on which I wanted to focus. One common aspect of dystopian novels is the concept of sorting people in some way or another. I didn't want to follow this pattern in the traditional sense, so I thought, "What if I categorize people by their negative traits instead of their positive traits?" That, however, developed into, "What if people aren't always categorized? What if only criminals are categorized?" After my thoughts developed little by little, I devised the exile town system found in book one. Once that was decided on, the characters and settings came naturally.
Jen Guberman I am currently working on book two of the Eos Dawn Series! It will follow Eos after the events of book one, and you will begin to see what kind of emotional and mental consequences some of her actions and experiences have had on her as time goes on.
Jen Guberman My favorite part of being a writer is that moment when someone tells you that they are a huge fan of your work. Even when just one person tells you that they love the world you created, or the people, or the work as a whole... It's the best!
Jen Guberman When I have writer's block, I like to wait until my most creative time of day. The more you write, the more you'll begin to notice when you are at a creative peak. For me, that's late at night, once I'm ready for bed and all other distractions are set aside. Then, I have a playlist I have specifically for writing that I like to listen to. I'll turn off the lights, listen to that playlist, close all tabs and such on my computer except the document I'm trying to work on, and I'll reread the last few paragraphs I wrote.
