Over the railway bridge and opposite the shops a schoolboy runs from the bully-boys chasing him, dodges between cars and onto the road where, across on the other side, is a friend who will protect him. A passing car cannot stop in time and the boy is knocked to the ground-- the car's grill is smashed, the boy's head bleeds onto the asphalt--and the quickly arriving ambulancemen ever so gently lift him into the vehicle and rush the badly injured lad under lights and sirens, to hospital, all before my astonished eyes.
