Considering the many obstacles you've encountered, what motivated you to tell your inspiring story and how did you find the discipline to write?
Keith Lawrence Hi Joy,

Thanks for your insightful question. I was mainly inspired to write my memoir because I wanted tell my unique life story in a way that connects mankind spiritually.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Keith Lawrence By being the first African-American graduate of the California Maritime Academy in the deck department.

How do you get inspired to write?
Keith Lawrence I get inspired to write by thinking my writings can uplift the world's consciousness.

What are you currently working on?
Keith Lawrence I'm working on two subjects: a screenplay and an article on race relations in the United States. I have some expertise on how people can overcome prejudice (people includes me!).

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Keith Lawrence My advice is to thoroughly research your subject, your editor, and your publisher. As an Indie published author you will have to be a jack-of-the-trade
and you shouldn't expect to quit your job and live off the proceeds of your first book.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Keith Lawrence The best thing about writing my first book was that my unique life story was gotten "out there" as famous author Amiri Baraka advised me.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Keith Lawrence I meditate on the subject at hand. Soon, within a few days, the answer arises.
