D. Lieber Thank you for the question, Mariia! Coming to terms with the writer label was surprisingly difficult for me. More accurately, it was the author label. Because at the time of finishing my first novel, I was writing for a government magazine, so writer-editor was my official job title. I didn't really force myself to face the author label until I signed my publishing contract. Then it all came crashing down on me, and it was very intimidating. Isn't that funny? Something I worked so hard for and I was embarrassed to embrace it.
D. Lieber I do any number of things. If it's just something temporary that I need to work out, I get up and make myself some tea or take a shower.

If it's serious business writer's block, I try to talk it out with friends (particularly writer friends). Or, I just occupy myself with other things until the breakthrough dawns on me. That could take anywhere from ten minutes to a few weeks.
D. Lieber Write for you. Do it because you love it. Write the stories you want to read but haven't been written yet.
D. Lieber The best thing about being a writer is the feeling of accomplishment when you finish a book. As I lean back to stretch in my computer chair, I sigh and smile as another character's story is told.
D. Lieber I want to finish The Last Days of Magic by Mark Tompkins, and I want to read An American Faerie Tale series by Bishop O'Connell. I hope to finish all of those before the writer bug urges me to chase down my own story ideas.
