Tracey Neithercott Hi Cintia,

I sure can relate. I've spent a lot of time discouraged or intimidated by writing and publishing. It's true that there's a lot of competition and getting a book published is difficult, but think about it this way: All published authors were in your position at one point. I try to think about this when I lose confidence in a manuscript. If my favorite authors had stopped writing because they worried the competition was too great, I would never have experienced their stories. Another thing I have done to take the pressure off myself is to tell myself the book I'm writing is just for me, regardless of whether it eventually gets published or rejected. That helps me push forward when I'm feeling discouraged.

It sounds like you love to write, which means you'll come across an idea sooner or later. Don't let fear stop you from writing. Writers who are published have one big thing in common: They don't give up. I hope you don't either!
