I take the block and saw it in half... No! seriously, I just move away from the story and write down whatever else it is in my head. Some of these ideas may look rubbish at first, but remember.....from small acorns, big trees grow. It may also be useful at a later date and fit into another story. Who knows?

I like having the freedom to express my thoughts and feelings on paper and then putting them into whatever setting I may choose. Not everyone will like my writing, but I'm not out to be the next classic writer. My writing is what I want it to be, and if its successful then great! If its not, then so be it.... but guess what? I'm still going to carry on writing.

Don't give up. Think of what it was you enjoyed about a book you've read and try to work out why. It may be the characters are very strongly described and you have grown fond of them... If so, how did the author achieve that?Research such topics, don't be afraid to try different things and make changes if you are not happy. You will also need to develop your own style, and this will come in time... honestly.

I travel a lot in the UK for my job, talk endlessly to all sorts of people (poor things), and get ideas from them, films, TV and some of the books I read.
I'm quite an avid reader and really drill down into the characters etc... I also get up early on the weekends and start writing before the rest of my family rise and shake off the nights demons.

It's a crime thriller about two serial killers on the loose, but I've already dug a big hole for myself as I had an idea for a sequel for 'Driven to Revenge' last Friday when sitting in the bath relaxing.... Ha!!!
I then spent that weekend writing the prologue and chapter 1, so I now have two to choose from, which could become quite complicated if I'm not careful.

Driven to Revenge came about as I was driving past an accident. I wondered what the people were really thinking as I carried on with my own destiny.
