Get a notebook or a Tablet and keep it with you and start writing. If you have a plot, good. If not, don't worry. Imagine who the main characters are and start thinking like them until they become like 'friends' in your head. Create and write down scenes involving them. Use experiences from your own life and embellish them. Put in conversations between your characters. This will help develop their personalities so that when a plot forms you have them ready to use.
