The cold grasping fingers wrapped around my ankles, slowly dragging me down as the dark earth cracked and ripped apart leaving an open wound seeping with thick, black mucus. As the last moments of daylight were cloaked by rancid soil, the foul stench of decaying flesh filled my lungs and I knew it was over, I had been taken.

I think I owe it to my child self, to go to the Hundred Acre Wood which I know is not very original but Winnie-the-Pooh was such a constant companion when growing up.

I'm not sure there are any great mysteries but I do have a few secrets which might make a good book plot.

In a way, it came from personal experience, as in my working life, I have often found myself with people, that under any other circumstances, it would be extremely unlikely I would never meet.
So I started to realize, although we all obviously share the same planet, we actually don't all inhabit the same world, so it was from that basic premise, the book was born.

I would say, write..and I know that's really nothing especially original, but the more you write, hopefully, the better you become. I would also say, when you first start, try and write about situations about which you have some personal knowledge. I must clarify, I fully accept with careful research, it's possible to write about situations you have never been in, but perhaps, when you start out, you might find it easier to use experiences from your own life.

For me, it's a way to explore situations, whether an experience or an emotion...it's really that simple. I suppose you could say, it's almost a kind of therapy in a way, because as I guide my characters through the maze of the story and their responses, it challenges me as much as them.

I usually go out for a long walk, but always carry with me a notebook as I've made the mistake of realising how to get through a tricky plot line, or how to phrase a conversation while I'm out..but as soon as I got home, I couldn't remember !
I find being outside helps me relax and so, hopefully, when I look at the computer screen again, the block has gone.
