I don't. I can only write when the mood strikes. I read somewhere that authors may often look like they are not writing. Reading, researching, exploring, and thinking through things are all important parts of the writing process for me. Sometimes my best ideas, phrases, or characters come to me when I am not at the keyboard actually writing.

Doing what you love is the number one reward, as well as the sense of accomplishment. Recognition is nice, as well as financial reward, but I don't write for those reasons. In fact, I get very little of either!

Just Do IT! Anyone can be a published author nowadays. There are many avenues other than the traditional query/agent/editor/publisher route. It is possible now to self publish without investing large sums of money.
