Which one? Haha, I love working on several stories at a time, but the most recent one I finished was because I promised a friend I would make him my hero! I'm knee deep in historical right now, so I played around with characters of many ethnic backgrounds, with the challenge of putting them accurately into history. It's been difficult, but fun! (I hope he likes the character!)

Honestly, don't think about it. I was walking through town the other day and spied a house that I absolutely loved - next thing I knew I had hacked out a chapter of a brand new series on my phone. For me the problem is never writer's block, it's finding time to fit it all in. I have stories that I'm really excited to write, which probably won't see the light of day for six months. But it's a great problem to have!

So many things! I have three stories in the works right now, two I'm writing and one I'm editing, and my editor is sending me the second book in a series for its initial edits. I tend to write in series, so I'll never be finished. Once I finish one of my current stories, I'm revisiting the Company Series. (I'm very excited!)

Write. I have a quote sitting beside my desk -
'Don't be a writer. Be writing,' - Faulkner.
It's a very romantic notion to be a writer, but the truth is that you will only get better if you write, (and read, research and constantly be willing to learn.)
There are many things about being a writer that it's important to keep in mind. You need a tough skin, and the ability to divorce the critique of your work from the critique of you as a person will be a huge advantage. But way more important that all of that is to always, always, always be writing.

One of my favorite parts about being a writer is the initial crumb of a story. I could be standing in line at the coffee shop, or out at my day job, and then something will spark my interest - a house or a dog, anything really, and the next thing I know I have the first three chapters planned out. It's a little like the early days of a crush, before the editing and outlining start to make it feel a little like I'm actually working!

I'm always trying to balance social media marketing and promotion with my actual writing. When I have writer's block, I'll switch to something less intensely creative, such as editing Instagram photos, or updating my Twitter schedule. If it's one particular story, I'll just switch to another one I'm working - Writing several stories at once can be hectic, but it's great fun!
