Liz Shine Great question! I have a unique relationship with each poem I’ve ever written, then fiddled over. Some I love because they hold nostalgia for me, like “A grape, a worm...”. Others embody some cherished and important feeling, like my ode to the avocado and “Linger, love”. One of my favorite for craft reasons is “Thou Shalt Not”.
Liz Shine Julie!
I'm so glad you messaged me. I am working on the letters now. I realized though that there isn't an easy way for me to get topics from people, so I've started writing them on topics of my choosing. Inspiration it is! Your book will be on the way next week. :)
Liz Shine That's tough to answer. It's the third book in a series of three I've got outlined in my head. The seed of the idea was planted when I wrote a first draft of the second book in the series in 2005. What's happened over the years is that a cast of characters who all live together in my mind spent a lot of time hanging out together. One day I realized all these quirky characters live in the same quirky town of Olympia, WA, then I began to connect their stories. Fictional destiny. I can't wait to share these three books with you!
Liz Shine I don't wait for inspiration. I have a schedule and I keep a log. Sometimes the time I spend feels inspired, sometimes it feels forced. Both feelings are part of the process and totally necessary.
Liz Shine I am working on publishing a fictional memoir, which I hope to finish by early summer. I also have a first draft of a novel waiting in the wings.
