This is a constant problem for me. Mostly I deal with it by feeling depressed and feeling like a complete failure. Then, after a while, I feel better and try again. It helps not to give up. Also, medication.

It's an old cliche, but keep reading and writing. You have to train your mind to think as a story teller and one way to do that is seeing how others do it and finding your own voice by writing.

I'm currently working on a sci-fi novel called The Arks of Andromeda. It would be my first novel since I've mostly worked with short stories.
