Jennifer Idol I'm finishing Alex Mustard's masterclass in photography. I strive to become a better photographer each day, and that means learning from accomplished experts.
Jennifer Idol When I am stuck creatively, I keep moving forward, even if it means engaging in a different activity for a while. The road to creating a work is nonlinear, full of turns, bumps, and dead ends.
Jennifer Idol My hypothesis that sharing content through written word reaches people's imaginations in ways you can't influence through any other medium. While the power of image to evokes more than words can translate, it is also through the context of how images relate to words that we derive fuller meaning.
Jennifer Idol My advice for aspiring writers is the same I give for aspiring creatives, photographers, designers, and those pursuing dreams. Follow your passions, commit to working hard each day on them, and have faith in yourself through the successes and failures.
Jennifer Idol Yes, I will write another book. Since these stories draw from my life experiences, I expect this book to take another six years. I feel substance in content comes only with time.

In the meantime, I am working on a greeting card line, on many new articles, and eventually in a digital product to help others more fully experience my travels.
Jennifer Idol In my youth, I adored reading classical literature but never imagined creating works of my own. I participated in a poet's society in high school, but had never created anything longer than a term paper before setting out to write An American Immersion.

Nonfiction bored me as a reader, so I was even more surprised to become a nonfiction writer to share the world around us with others. Having now written numerous articles and my first book, I have learned the inspiration for my writing draws from my life experiences. Composing these works comes from my heart. If I am not feeling the story I need to convey, the words also do not come. This includes every social media post, online article, and periodical article.
Jennifer Idol Life sent me in a direction that inspired creating An American Immersion so other people may know and love local waters in the United States. The moment I landed from my flight after seeing the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, I knew I needed to do something to make a difference. I felt creating a book was the physical manifestation needed to share this story.
