Scott Mathy I write things that I would want to read. After a lifetime of consuming media, I use all the little "wouldn't that be amazing" ideas I saw in other things.

If you haven't tried it, NaNoWriMo is a wonderful initiative for getting ideas down.
Scott Mathy I'm working on a sequel to Killing Capes as well as another story told in the same universe.
Scott Mathy Be fearless. Don't worry if it isn't what you want during the drafting phase. If you have a story you want to tell, just write it and worry about the quality later. Your editor is your best friend.
Scott Mathy Seeing other people enjoying your ideas. I love conversing with readers who have something to say about my characters.
Scott Mathy Sit down with something brilliant. Read, watch, or play with something that you think is amazing. Find what you love about it and think of how to bring that feeling into your own work.

If all else fails, write a fight scene. You can always find a place for more fight scenes.
