I have two cats, and I've always found them fascinating. The juxtaposition between their affectionate cuddling and their ruthless killing nature is so interesting to me. Plus, both of my cats are rescues, so I thought it would be interesting to flip the script and look at the other side of that dynamic. :)
Great question! Thanks!

I have a couple of techniques, and I'm still figuring things out. But my first go-to is exercise. If I go out for a run, I'm often able to let my mind drift and think through whatever plot problem is holding me up.
That said, though, if the "block" is less of a plot problem and more of a "motivation problem", I do something that I call "grinding". That is, I tell myself that I'm going to sit down and write at least 100 words. If after 100 words, I'm still feeling unmotivated, I'll chalk it up and try again the next day. Literally *every time* I've tried this technique, I end up writing quite a bit more than 100 words. Sometimes 2000 or 3000 words per session.
The key for me, though, is that I have to take care of myself as well. If I'm overtired, or haven't eaten, I can grind, but it won't work as well as it would if I just went to bed at a decent hour and kept my nutrition up.

Commit. Put your butt in the seat, fingers on the keyboard, and write.
