Music. I can't play it when I am actually writing, but each character in my books has their own theme song that I like to listen to before I start. Candace Starr, the six foot three hitwoman featured in my tongue-in-cheek crime novel,The Starr Sting Scale (Feb 2020) really likes grooving to Bad to the Bone.

I walked the 800 km pilgrimage in Spain called the Camino de Santiago. While I was there a woman was abducted and murdered. This served as the inspiration for my novel, Petra's Ghost, a gothic mystery thriller set on the Camino.

My great great aunt was a maid in the Roosevelt household. After several failed pregnancies Mrs. Roosevelt and she went away for a while. When they came back they had a baby with them that would become the 32nd president of the United States.
When my aunt died she was buried in the Roosevelt family plot. Could she have provided services to the household that went deeper than the typical maidservant?
