Easy one. Recently trucks and vans with different business logos kept parking across the street. The drivers would get out but I didn't see anyone doing any work. This went on for about a week. I can think of about a dozen different answers as to why they were there, and most of them would lead to a mystery. In fact, I think I'll do a blog about it.

I'll write something, even if it's silly, because I know I can go back and change it later. In the meantime, it moves me past writer's block.

There are a couple of things. I enjoy writing more than any other job I've ever had. That's huge. I'm having a good time.

Read books that are the type you'd like to write. See how others do it. Then do it. Talking about it won't get you anywhere. Also, grow a thick skin. Not everyone will like what you write, and you can't take it personally. It's all a matter of taste.

I'm taking a break between books, but the next one just may involved another cold case. Things like old radio shows and old gangsters keep popping up and they're becoming quite inspirational.

Life inspires me. It's as simple as that. For instance, one of the books is titled Prudy's Back! I met an older woman who'd been a P.I. back in the eighties. She was spunky, and her daughter had such scewed memories of her from those years that I knew someone like her needed a story. She got one.

I'm not sure if you mean Choosing One Moment or Having a Great Crime - Wish You Were Here.
Choosing One Moment came about because I'd always wanted to try a time travel book, but it ended up being more about the mystery than time travel. I prefer the past to the future, so 1909 it was. : )
As for Having a Great Crime - Wish You Were Here, I live in a small, quaint town and the location actually inspired the story. It's a cold case, and I prefer to have the crime take place "off screen", so to speak. Several of my books are about old crimes.
