David Russell Mosley Well, since it was my PhD thesis, I got it from doing my PhD. More specifically, I got the idea to work on deification and human creativity by having spent so much of my life reading the Church Fathers and the works of George MacDonald, G. K. Chesterton, J. R. R. Tolkien, and C. S. Lewis.
David Russell Mosley Along with a novel that will hopefully be published this Autumn or Winter, I have begun work on a new novel.
David Russell Mosley I don't feel like I ought to give advice on this subject. After all, I only have one book, almost, out and another getting ready to go to the publisher. The only things I feel I can say are these: If you want to write, write. Make the time and do it because you want to, not because you want to become famous. Also, don't write what you know, per se, but write what you love. Don't let what's popular or in dictate what you write. Write for you first, your audience second.
David Russell Mosley For me the best of writing is writing the kinds of books I want to read, whether they are academic or fiction or poetry. Truth be told, I don't think of a target audience when I write. I don't think about for whom am I writing. Rather I write what I would want to read. That makes writing incredibly pleasurable for me.
David Russell Mosley It's rare with academic work that I face writer's block properly speaking. That said, when I do struggle to write one thing, I try to write something else instead. I have found that writing begets more writing.
