I have the same chronic pain condition as my main character Mac Maguire and one way of dealing with pain is to work. Not just work but to get into a 'flow' where you're concentrating totally on one thing. It's just about possible to ignore the pain that way.

Two ways -
-If I feel that I can't write then I'll go back and edit what I've written the previous session. Often this primes me to carry on writing but if not...
