Start small. And get stuff up online, so you can cultivate an audience. Write day and night, on a plane or secretly in the office. Don't be hard on yourself for being a fraud: you're doing a very important job in being a writer. And take heart from the mini breakthroughs along the way; they are what count. Behind each *big* breakthrough is a whole series of small victories, be they retweets from someone you admire, or a tiny magazine getting back to you saying they'd be happy to publish your work.
