Rich Hungerford Just do it! I draw on something I read in a blog from Seth Godin years ago. It is along the lines of 'show up, sit down and just write'. This builds up resource of ideas and concepts that can be shaped into something bigger later on.
Rich Hungerford Writing provides you with the opportunity to expand your audiences knowledge and perspective on life. It gives you the opportunity to get them thinking asymmetrically ... literally gets them out of the box and stretching the defined imitations of their minds. When I read books, that is what I seek. I want to be inspired and made aware of new concepts that I have previously never considered.
Rich Hungerford Simply put, I don't. If I have something to write, then I sit down and write. If I have nothing to express then I go and do something else until I do have thoughts that need to be written down.
Rich Hungerford I was inspired to write my upcoming book on the warrior's path by listening to the discussions between students attending survival courses and by noting how 'warriors' are being portrayed in the popular media. The portrayal of warriors as individuals highly skilled in violence and killing is not accurate nor is it healthy for our communities. By immersing our young people in this skewed perspective we are inherently desensitising them to violence and this is now directly contributing to the level of violence we experience in the world generally and in our immediate communities. We need to re-direct that perspective to one that shows people that warriors are in lesson, as we all are, but that it is in a particular way and for the protection and benefit of others. We have to show our young people that the warrior's path is about service rather than self-service. That it emphasises peaceful co-existence and cooperation rather than competition. We need the new generation to understand that we can be strong while being compassionate and that the latter is not an expression of weakness. The book has been written with that intention.
Rich Hungerford I am currently in the final stages of proofing a manuscript for my next book which is about the philosophy of being a modern warrior. I have written it in the hope of highlighting to readers what the term 'warrior' means and have mapped out the journey of learning and development of the warrior's path in a series of passages that guide the reader through to increased awareness of the path of the warrior.
