Laura Foster I'm working on the sequel to Crimson. "Beast" will follow Donahue 13 years in the future and his struggles with the past.
Laura Foster You'll see a lot of guides out there on how to "overcome writer's block" so what works for me may not work for you.

There can be times where I just won't be able to write and that's okay. So when I can't write a book, I read a book. When you I keep still, I go for a walk. When I feel distracted, I move to another room. If you feel like my head is about to explode, I play video games or watch movies. The brain needs a break once in a while.

But there will be times where that itch the write is overwhelming and that wonderful "writer's block" stops me. It could be that I'm struggling to get the pieces to fit together or establish how a character will react to the situation. So when I get to that stage, I'll put the manuscript away, get out a notepad and start flow-charting how that situation will affect others. I pinpoint how the environment will be affected, eventually write out something I like and will put it in the book. I have countless notebooks filled up with notes where only 5% will end up in the book but at least I'm writing. The important thing to me is to keep writing. I try to aim for 2,000 words a day.
