Gary Lelonek When I developed writer's block, I took some time away from writing and engaged in other activities. That was not too hard since I am working full time in the Emergency Department as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and have a beautiful family. After being away from the project for a few weeks, I was able to return to it with vigour. There have to be other activities and hobbies in your life to give you the opportunity to be completely away from your writing. No matter what you are doing you need to be devoted to the environment you are engaging; work, play, relationships or kids.
Gary Lelonek Writing is an art and craft. When writing non-fiction, you need to find a topic you are passionate about, so you can share your passion through writing, arousing your audience's interests.
Gary Lelonek I am current studying developmental psychology. There are multiple paradigms that describe the development of the mind, including Freud, Erikson, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Mahler. I am writing about Judeo perspectives on existential development.
Gary Lelonek The topics of the Holocaust and family narrative are important to me. I am excited to share my writing with my family and friends. I get to share 2 of my passions, while honoring the memory of my grandfather.
Gary Lelonek Writing about my grandfather, Charlie Lelonek brought him into my life as an adult. My perspective on him has changed from a little grandchild's perspective of their grandfather to a mature understanding of who he was. Now, I think of him as a role model of making tough decisions that are based on a solid moral fiber, along with being connected to the political reality around you. It is such as a responsibility to make decisions that affect your loved ones.
Gary Lelonek I love to write and research history. When I discovered and heard my grandfather's, Charles Lelonek's, lost interview of his World War 2 experiences in 2012, it blew me away. He shared a cohesive account his family's experiences from 1939-1949. The story combats many stereotypes of the Jews in the Holocaust. He saved his family, was brave to take preemptive actions that demonstrated an understanding of the dangerousness of the Nazis, fought in the Polish Army, and was strongly nationalistic. I wanted to document, research and write his story.
