Kate Robinson I'd love to explore Haruki Murakami's magical realist worlds in Japan.
Kate Robinson My experiences as a child with parents who had undiagnosed mental illness and a probably personality disorder fuel my memoir-in-progress.
Kate Robinson I have a long shelf of academic books about dreaming / neuroscience / dream-related literature and novels in dream-related or alterative consciousness genres that I'm going to start tackling. I was supposed to have entered a PhD program this fall, but don't have enough funding. So I'm going to immerse myself in the reading anyway, and start writing the novel I'd proposed for the program.
Kate Robinson Hi Chris! Thanks for your question and I apologize for the delay in answering it. The most challenging aspect of writing professionally both at the beginning and now is juggling all those hats . . . it's not easy to write, submit to publishers - or self-publish - and to promote your work. For me, this is complicated by the fact that I'm also a freelance editor and publishing consultant by trade, so multiply all the issues exponentially because I'm coaching others too! I barely have enough time to deal with my work.
Kate Robinson Creating something for nothing! Lying for fun and profit! : }
Kate Robinson I'm a freelance editor as well as a writer. I'm working as copyeditor on two nonfiction narrative books for a UK publisher. On the creative side, I'm working on a collaborative collection of short stories with my writing friend Joe DiBuduo, fleshing out my magical realism novella, Loop: Life Is But a Dream into a novel, and brainstorming a sequel to HoD and Loop. That said, if something moves me, I'll write a blog post or start another short story or poem!
Kate Robinson When there's writing that "wants to be channeled" it seems to flow out!
Kate Robinson The idea for Heart of Desire: 11.11.11 began with a lucid dream that became a scene in the final chapter.
