Alisa Kester I've always loved Prof. Emerson and Amelia Peabody from Elizabeth Peters' series. I love the everlasting and faithful love those two have - there is never any question they belong to each other, and the romance never dies through a lifetime of marriage, children, mummies, and sarcastic humor!
Alisa Kester One of the characters came to me in a dream (Flinders Grey, from the Molly Claire Series). He was supposed to be the main character, but in the process of writing, he somehow lost that role. I do plan on giving him a book entirely to himself one of these days! I did have a lot of fun romping through time with him in my dream - he's a rascal, for sure!
Alisa Kester I'm working on a new steampunk series that follows the adventures of an intrepid monster-hunting woman as she travels the world hunting monsters while very properly dressed in fluffy gowns. It's set during the 1830s, during the early reign of Queen Victoria.
Alisa Kester I really don't get writer's block anymore. When I do, it's a sign that I've gone wrong with the story; it tells me that I need to go back and rethink my plot direction. I used to have to throw out thousands of words to get the book back on track, but I've gotten better at listening to what the story wants and catching the problems before they develop into a block.
