Blair Reeve Several people complained that Hogart, my first book, was "too wordy" or had too many big words (it doesn't). So I began a narrative about a character who uses lots of big words.
Blair Reeve I'm working, very tentatively, on a narrative about a mayfly. Mayflies only live for one day, so they need to get going and not waste time!
Blair Reeve One idea is to show or read your writing to writer-friends and ask them where they think the narrative is leading. But otherwise, the best idea is to look and think hard about what you've already got and let that world expand in your mind until the central problem is clear and possible solutions reveal themselves.
