Meredith May Laura, hi!
The Honey Bus took me 10 years to write and three complete re-writes, because at first I wasn't clear on what I was writing about. The first version was a very wounded story focused on my feelings about my mother. I had to mature as a daughter to see that my childhood was just as fulfilling as it was challenging. It wasn't until my grandfather died in 2015 while I was writing the book that I realized how much of a savior he'd been, and how he'd used his bee societies to teach me about human ones.
Meredith May My agent connected me with a publisher who was looking for a ghostwriter to tell the story of Zahed and Najah, two enemy soldiers in the Iran-Iraq War who chose mercy over murder.
