I can't recall the day that I actually integrated large golden rings into the character designs for Flux Destiny, but they just sort of came out during the design process. While I thought they looked cool, I wanted them to be more than just ornamental. So, when I was developing the premise for the first novel, I thought it would be exciting to explore the truth behind these rings, and it led to the scenario and title behind Flux Destiny: Fortuna's Rings

I've found that when I can't write, I turn to art. As an animator and character designer, this gives me another skillset that allows me to develop and create using imagery instead of words. Even if you're not a great artist and all you can do is stick figures, it doesn't matter - consider scribbling and drawing parts of your world or designing your characters. This is for your benefit, and it's unlikely anyone will see your scribbles unless you allow them to.
I also turn to playing video games, watching movies, reading books to get the creative juices flowing.

The best advice that was given to me was simple: "just write." It's very easy to get caught up in wanting everything to be perfect before actually writing your first manuscript - but this can easily lead to an endless loop of development where you never actually get to writing. I was a victim of this for a long time.
Once I started taking that advice, I realized that the development process continues as you're writing your manuscript - and most times it's even more effective because you're doing it within the context of the story... like a live test.
So, stop worrying - just write.

Listening to music, playing video games, reading art books that are within the genre of what I'm writing are just some of the ways I get jump started. Music is one of the biggest - I like to go on long walks with dedicated playlists that help develop imagery in my imagination.

I absolutely love developing fictional universes that have some grounding in reality. Being a writer challenges me to not only create believable dynamics between characters, but also to create exciting cause-and-effect relationships between the characters' decisions and their ultimate fate in the book. It feels like a big responsibility, and I enjoy the challenge of entertaining my readers.

I'm currently working on the next book in the Flux Destiny series, that goes back in the timeline and explains how Marco's destiny was broken, and how he and Hugo become forcibly paired.
