Holmes and Watson are a very enduring couple though I don't think that's what you meant. For romantic couples, though, I'd have to pick Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy - of course!

Do what you love, write what you know, read everything, especially great literature. Reading books is the best way to acquire writing skill. I say this as a writing teacher as well as an author and poet. I would not repeat the canard about "write every day" because I have never been able to write every day except when exceedingly inspired. Real life gets in the way, and real life jobs do. So write what you can, when you are inspired. I believe more in the inspiration to write than the discipline of writing.
