Nicholas Pearson My reading list is always long, but I have some new additions to assist with research for a couple of upcoming manuscripts. Currently, I am reading When God Was a Woman (Merlin Stone), The Witches' Goddess (Janet and Stewart Farrar), Gems in Myth, Legend and Lore (Bruce G. Knuth), Rites and Symbols of Initiation (Mircea Eliade), Energy Medicine: The Scientific Basis (James Oschman), and probably a dozen more!
Nicholas Pearson I make it a habit to be open to inspiration whenever it comes, no matter what form it takes. In the case of my most next forthcoming work, it started with a challenge from my best friend to come up with a new workshop, something timely and different from my previous classes. The idea of using crystals for karmic healing was born!

With regard to my current research, local events impacting my community have inspired me to look at ways to empower others to nurture and heal the specialised needs we have. I can't say too much at this stage about the newest project I have in the works, as I don't have very much written yet, but it will be a departure from other texts on crystals that are already out there.
Nicholas Pearson Currently I am making some revisions and updates to a manuscript about Reiki Ryoho, the Japanese healing art. I'm hoping to complete some ongoing historical research on the Reiki system before I hand it over to the editorial team next month.

I am also laying the groundwork for a text on flower essences. I'm focusing on plants that are native to my home state of Florida, many of which are common in other parts of North America as well. It's exciting to innovate new remedies within an already flourishing field. After this initial background research is completed, I'll be moving into trials and collecting data from clients, colleagues, and practitioners. It's a big departure from the mineral kingdom, but it is enriching to widen the scope of my work.
Nicholas Pearson Much of my work is predicated on research; when I get stuck, I usually head back to the piles of books I work with in order to find something juicy to lead me forward. When that doesn't work, I step away from words altogether and pick up my instrument. Even just a few minutes of making music will clear my head enough to get back to work.
Nicholas Pearson Read as much as you can! I never set out to be a writer; I really haven't had any formal training. In spite of that, I've been a reader my entire life, and it has honed my craft. Don't be afraid to take risks, either. Send in manuscripts early, or ask your favourite authors for help. Many are willing to contribute endorsements or otherwise assist a first-time author. At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is to remind yourself why you're writing in the first place. Make sure that you love what you do, and it will never be anything but fulfilling.
Nicholas Pearson Most of my inspiration comes from the subject matter- the stones themselves. The mineral kingdom's breathtaking beauty and supportive energies are responsible for sparking my interest in writing in the first place, so I return to it whenever I'm looking for something new to say.
