Avik Davar The vicarious thrill of being a creator. The power to create a new world, a better world than the one we have little influence over.
Avik Davar I've been through a lot of pain to find out what I really seek through writing.
My advice to aspiring writers is to question themselves why they want to write. If the answers (like mine at first) are: money, fame, respect, then all but one in a million are in for some serious pain and depression. I've moved on since then, and I really seek to immerse myself into the experience and come up with something that I'd like to be proud to identify with, whether it's on a list or not. Yes, write only to excel at your work, to push into new realms.
Avik Davar I just plough through it, live it grudging it and hope that when it's over, there's a new direction I hadn't considered before. For that's what I've learnt about writer's block. It's just the characters protesting an illogical plot line or point. When the characters act true to themselves, there can be no writer's block.
Avik Davar I have finished the first draft of 'Irula' which is a bio-terror plot with links to the snake people tribe in south India. It is a slick and slithering story about a cop chasing a deadly psychopath, with an unprecedented ending, and with the super star Rajni in a cameo.
Avik Davar Inspiration can come out of anywhere. Usually, it is a germ of an idea, a thought or premise so preposterous it keeps nettling me, at time for years. And a story eventually is born.

I am inspired most by an alternative possibility, and try to create fiction that is better than reality in every sense, to create a world that might have been, with characters playing to their maximum.
Avik Davar Some facts are stranger than fiction. Here we have a criminal don who has eluded us for 23 years, and we have no proof of where he is. We are happy to hear jingoist claims of bringing him back, but we call off four take out missions at the last second. Amidst the din of speculation, I decided to think like the Don himself and considered how I could avoid being caught for so long, and what I would plan as my swan song.
