I approach writing like I would any hobby, taking Stephen King's advice to heart. "Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and write." I'm probably butchering the quote, but the long and short of it is that you just sit down and write. It's no different than going to the batting cages and putting in your hours.
