Duncan Stroud The easy answer to that is simply shift awareness, perspective. The trickier part is how to do that. Some stuff works, some doesn't. Tango dancing? micro dosing? Freezing cold showers? All three? All have worked for me but not always.
Duncan Stroud Finishing the book. For me, writing is like going to the gym... I don' really like the working out part, but I love the finished result.
Duncan Stroud Am I qualified to answer such a question? I would say that whatever it is you are aspiring to do, just start doing it. Not very profound, but practical.
Duncan Stroud At the moment I am helping to prepare a dinner to raise money for the children of the villa (slums) in Buenos Aires, a project that is growing nicely (see http://deliciasdealicia.org/). As for writing, I am torn between two ideas: a dark political comedy about politics in Argentina (very, very complicated), or a more exploratory look into the Alternate Realities arena. Of course, a lot depends on how much traction my current book gets.

"Inspired" may not be the best word. "Compelled" would be more accurate. it is very difficult for me to write, being high functioning autistic as well as dyslectic and never having learned to read or write in school. My writing process is essentially to bang out an idea on the keyboard, then spend significantly more time spell checking and editing it into something coherent. Still, the effort involved is not enough to block the desire or need to communicate.
Duncan Stroud Although I had been toying with the idea of an autobiography for some years, I was essentially nagged, prodded and cajoled into writing it by those who knew my story. However, the real motive was to share something of myself with my children, who I rarely get to see, and, who knew very little about their father as a person. This was also the same reason I was frightened to write the book... as there some parts of everyone's life that might better be left unsaid and unexplored. Nevertheless, no rock was left unturned.
