Khuram Malik It was a mixture of things. Firstly I was looking for my own spiritual inspiration on being an entrepreneur. I went into Islamic Bookshops hoping something would cover this subject. Unfortunately it didn't, yet my wife said I should be the one to write the very book I was looking for. That planted the seed, but thereafter I got so tired of having the same argument with people over and over about how important Entrepreneurship is for the youth, the need to stop focusing on Doctors and Lawyers and how Entrepreneurship is the primary driver in social change. Not to mention how the modern education system has seriously failed us.
Khuram Malik Honestly speaking. When I get really frustrated by something. It's the frustration that causes me to want to get something down on paper. I don't mean personal frustration, say for example, being stuck in a traffic jam. I mean when I see something that is wrong that needs to be right, or if I see something that is mediocre that could be so much better.
Khuram Malik Currently scaling up my consulting business. Moving from a one-man show to a team outfit and offering additional services to clients. Also working on promoting the book while also sketching out outlines for the next book.
Khuram Malik I have created a Blueprint for budding authors that will be available on my new website krmmalik.com very soon. In that Blueprint I lay out how you can come with your book idea, how to avoid mental blocks, how to make sure your book opens to 5-star reviews as well as other things. Some writers of big books due out soon are already using this blueprint. Watch this space.
Khuram Malik For a non-fiction writer -- and this may sound "needy" -- but the best thing is the fact that you get taken seriously. There are so many dinner table conversations where someone has in important point of view to share that doesn't get accepted at the dinner table. Yet, type those thoughts out on a computer, print the book and suddenly the world is more accepting of your point of view. It's amazing, how just changing the format of the conversation makes all the difference in the world. Says alot about human psychology.
Khuram Malik I don't. If I'm not feeling inspired, I don't write. I don't allow myself to feel guilty if I don't feel like writing. Generally speaking, what I find creates writers block is if I am pushing myself too hard I.e too much time in-front of the computer and not enough breaks, or if I've allowed myself to be distracted. Things like Facebook notifications, WhatsApp messages and emails can really interrupt ones flow which is what often leads to writer's block. So if that ever happens, I only have myself to blame, but as long as I haven't allowed myself to be distracted the the mental block is genuine, then I often wait until I feel inspired again.
