What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Carlene Griffith The best advice I could give others is that it's okay to fail. It's okay to start over. Just don't let it stop you. Keep writing! As Margaret Atwood has said, "The trashcan is your friend!"

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Carlene Griffith When I get stuck on something, I put it down and start a short story. When I'm done I get back to what I was stuck on and am usually able to pick up where I left off. Sometimes you just need to get out of your head and focus on something else. That usually works for me.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Carlene Griffith Oh, I'd love to go to Wonderland. I'd also love to go to Raboo, the fairy tale world I created for Rose Maidelaiden.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Carlene Griffith Creating a world of my own and going there every day in my head. I love the escape from reality and love the time I get to spend there. I also love working with others that appreciate the work it takes to get there. I have the greatest critique partners and friends that love to write as much as I do.

What are you currently working on?
Carlene Griffith I'm currently working on finishing Rose Maidelaiden 2 and 3. I'm working on a mythological story and a few picture books.

How do you get inspired to write?
Carlene Griffith It doesn't take much for me to get inspired. An idea or quick thought can really take me down the rabbit hole. I love writing. I get this wonderful release from it. So in other words, it's my drug and I'm addicted.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Carlene Griffith Which one? LOL, I have too many to tell you about. I love to write short stories and some of those have turned into novel ideas. I sometimes get ideas from my kids or from researching other things. My imagination just runs away with me sometimes. I think my greatest source of idea-generating comes from years of theater improv work. Always make the strongest choice and always say yes.
