Mike Staton Zombie culture has long been an interest of mine. I have frequently thought of what would happen with the collapse of society in an apocalyptic event. With zombies at a high, I figured I'd put a story together cobbling my own world together.
I was inspired by Jonathon Coulton, Romero, Steam's Left4Dead, and a number of other zombie films and games. See the dead? Write the dead.
Mike Staton A couple of different fantasy novels. One is an epic following a run-away boy who turns assassin and challenges the status-quo of the land.
The other is a story of three realms locked in eternal conflict and the blood and bone that can erupt when the youth of the realms are sacrificed to that conflict.

Though if I get enough interest and desire, I may change focus to develop a sequel to "Whatever It Takes." I certainly have more stories I can tell in the apocalyptic world I've developed in that book.
Mike Staton Sit down and write. Don't make up excuses for why you can't write. If you aspire to be a writer, then write.
Mike Staton The magic of creating something new and exciting from absolutely nothing. In our world, as we know it, writing or creating other pieces of art is possibly the closest thing we'll ever get to real magic.
Imagine conjuring an entire world, universe, people, or population from nothing more than your mind. What more could be more magical than that?
Mike Staton Music and isolation. I like long walks in a forest to get the juices flowing. And one cannot forget that reading other folks' fiction is also necessary to replenish my well of inspiration.
