Thank you for your interest in JOSIE: A Story of Faith and Survival. I am interested in hearing your thoughts after you have an opportunity to read JOSIE's story. Although I do not currently have a second book out, I am working on another in the series. I expect it to be called, LORRI: A Story of Faith and Survival. It is about a seventeen year-olds faith and courage after a car accident results in her becoming a paraplegic.

This is a tough one in that life is often so busy that I struggle to find time to write. I like to write about things that mean something to me, which is what prompted the writing of JOSIE: A Story of Faith and Survival. My current manuscript is a children's fantasy story because I needed a lighter topic and love a good adventure.

My first book, JOSIE: A Story of Faith and Survival is a true story about a young girl and her family's struggle in the post WWII Yugoslavia. It was an intense book for me to write, as Josie is my mother. My current book is a children's fantasy adventure. I felt as though I needed something fun with less emotion attached to it for my current work.

After my mother passed, I began thinking about the painful memories that she had shared with me about her imprisonment in the 1944 Yugoslavian concentration camps at the age of four. For my family, and many of the survivors of these atrocities, part of the pain they carried with them was that their plight was never acknowledged in history books. I hoped to honor my mother and other survivors by sharing their story. My cousin, Diane Iverson, and I researched the events in an attempt to provide an accurate account of this horrendous time in history as seen through one little girl's eyes.

I wish I had a helpful response. To be creative I need to be able to set aside everything else and focus entirely on my writing. My life is very busy and I am not good at stealing a few minutes here and there.

Hmm. There are many fictional characters that I really enjoy. Today, I think that I will choose Mma Ramotswe and her husband, Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni. They are two characters from Alexander McCall Smith's, No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency novels. I love their efforts to maintain their values as they deal with the interesting adventures that life brings their way.
