The filthy luchre. Money, money, money. If I can keep up my current sales pace, I can retire on my writing proceeds in 1,007,250 days.

I write. No matter how bad things are, I have a word count for the day and I will write until I hit it. Even if what I write is utter garbage and I delete 75% of it when editing, I still write. Some days I just describe one character for a page, others I'll write bad jokes between the characters. The key is to just write.

My favorite fictional couple is the hero and heroine, X and Naani of The Night Land by William Hope Hodgson. The idea that the re-incarnated spirits of lovers could find each other again after millions of years of separation, and only by braving an utterly hostile world to be re-united is the deepest, the most moving, and most unique love story I've ever read. No couple in literature ever deserved their happy ending more than this one.

Honestly - just write. I've heard this from every author that I've spoken to, and it is the advice that got me going too. There are a lot of days when I'm not sure exactly where I'm going to go with a chapter, but I just force myself to sit down every day - every single day, and bang out my words. It might be that I delete half of what I've written the next day, but all the progress adds up over time.

I got the idea for Dream Job from a viral ad campaign a few years ago. In the campaign, there was supposedly a mysterious, threatening looking man showing up in people's dreams throughout the world. It sparked me to think about what would happen if you didn't dream your own dreams.
