T. Birmingham Oh. I really, really like this one. I don't know if I can choose one. I love so many worlds, but the first world that popped into my head was Harry Potter and Hogwarts. And I'd absolutely play Quidditch.
T. Birmingham See my answer for "Writer's Block." Also, I just always write. If you're always writing, always exploring, always traveling, always meeting new people and experiencing the world in new ways, you will never be short on stories.
T. Birmingham I take a fucking break. Seriously. Go for a walk. Get off the damn Facebook. Step away from your readers, your writing, the whole book world, and sometimes even music. Just step away from the noise and DO YOU, BE YOU, SEEK OUT THE PEACE WITHIN.
T. Birmingham Building worlds that the writer (me) and the reader (you) can get lost in. There is nothing better than getting lost in a world of magic. We're surrounded by magic every day, and I love to bring stories to life that show us that even the simplest things can hold the most beauty and power.
T. Birmingham Write a lot. Take classes. Be passionate. GIVE IT YOUR ALL. If you want something, you can't half-ass it; you have to give it your whole being.
T. Birmingham Edits. Haha. I am working on edits, but I am also working on Books Two, Three, and Four. When working on a series, at least for me, it's totally essential to plan ahead, especially because I have this overarching idea that is found in the undertones of each book. These characters won't be leaving. They're constantly central to the story, so when Devon and Alexia are "done" after Book One, Devil's Pride, you will definitely see them in future books, sometimes even as central characters. Such is the nature of fantasy. Everyone has a magical story to tell, and no one's story ends with a kiss and a hug. Because even though I'm all about the HEA, I'm also all about the journey that leads up to that HEA. Each book, the lead couple will have an ending that I believe the readers will be content with; however, I'm writing fantasy, not romance. A person's story does not end with just that love. A person's story is a never-ending magical loop of connections.
T. Birmingham Oh, I like this question. My book started with a dream. I know that's a common answer, but it's true. Alexia, as a member of the Schrom (Skrom) dealing with the idea of good versus evil, is the result of a dream I had about a woman named Alexia lost in a house, her red hair flowing around her as blood and death overtake and consume her. The real question my book asks is whether she will let that death and blood be the center of her universe. Whether evil is innate or a learned behavior. Many of the ideas and even the Clans in the book are also a result of dreams I have had. So, the whole book overall is probably based on about seven different dreams. A lot of magic in that...
