Philip Dampier The Red Shoe came from a red shoe lying in the middle of the crossover on the road going home. My wife brought it to my attention and we began to ask, "Where did that shoe come from and how did it get there?" After a couple of weeks I couldn't stand it any more and sat down and started to write an answer. Two weeks later the first draft was finished and two more weeks later it was revised and edited and two more weeks later I put it on Kindle Scout. It got some attention so I decided to self publish it just for the fun of it.
Philip Dampier I don't know the answer to this question. I just have stories inside me and they are seeking an outlet. I just like telling stories and making them up is the fun part of writing. I think I am learning to ask, "what if?" a lot and it just brings up all kinds of ideas. My concern is learning how to tell them in the most interesting way.
Philip Dampier Books 2 and 3 of the Robert H. and Tisza series. Book 2, "Old Man on the Mountain" is in final stages. Book 3 was a product of NANOWRIMO and is still in 2nd draft stage.
I have two other books in early form that I am working when I have some extra time. Neither of those books are in the series.
Book 3 of the series, "2 outta 3 ain't good" presented me with an idea for another book some time in the future.
Philip Dampier Read the book by Bell. "Just Write." You don't know if you can or can't until you try. I now believe it is a learnable skill like most other things. Natural ability can be enhanced. Of course it doesn't hurt to have natural ability in any activity.
Philip Dampier Its so new to me it's hard to say. I think it's the opportunity to tell stories in a new way and I love to tell stories. I told them as a preacher, middle school teacher, and as a parent. Now I can share them with a potential larger audience.
Philip Dampier So far it has not been a problem. I have more ideas than I do time.
