Making worlds and really getting to know your characters. They seem to become a part of your life. But the absolute best thing? When your writing changes a person's life, gets someone through a hard time, or challenges their thinking in some way.

I have many mysteries in my life, but here's one...and one that actually will be a plot in a book some day: I can actually feel how people died in their past lives, and I can also feel how people who've passed on died. I feel everything a person went through and can even get perceptions of time and place. I can't control it. I never know when it'll happen or who it'll happen with; it just does.

It came to me in a daydream, while I was folding laundry. Seriously. I find that ideas seem to come to me when I'm not necessarily thinking about the book, such as when I'm taking a shower (happens all the time), when I'm cooking, driving...halfway between being asleep and awake.
