Bill Georato First, be in love with the idea. The details are going to change as you go through the project, but if you are not in love with the idea, you won't be interested in going forward.

Second, don't give up. Much like other forms of entertainment, it's hard to break in. If ever. But you can't win if you don't play.

Write something every day. It doesn't matter what it is. Write in different genres. Write scripts, write poetry. The point is, try different things, even if it's just a writing exercise. This keeps your brain engaged and creativity going. Also, read a lot. And read different things.
Bill Georato I have just finished my latest book--Colorado: Diary of a Solo Traveler--so I'll be taking a little break, other than the occasional blog post. However, I do have several ideas. I may try my hand at fiction, as I have an idea for a novella based on a short story I wrote 25 years ago in high school.
Bill Georato My most recent book---Colorado: Diary of a Solo Traveler---is based on a bus trip across Colorado that included visits to several National Parks and rides on two historic trains. I knew from the planning stages that I was going to write a book about this trip because I thought it would be a fun thing to do! And you know what? It was!
Bill Georato When you get writer's block, don't be afraid to get up and walk away. Put your mind on something else, even if it's just watch TV, or go for a walk. Sometimes simply changing your surroundings can inspire you.

Don't worry about getting back to it for the rest of the day. Work on other things, and get a good night sleep. Your computer will still be there in the morning!
Bill Georato Good question. I don't read a lot of fiction, but my answer would be Harry Potter's London. It seems like an interesting place!
