Fermina Daza and Florentino Ariza of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "Love in the Time of Cholera." They start out as childhood sweethearts, but in a Shakespearian move, her father whisks her away from Florentino because Father thinks his daughter is too good for lowly Florentino. I won't spoil the rest of the book, but I think it's one of the most romantic stories I've ever read.

A jobby (combo hobby and job - I just made that word up but you can use it)? A full-time balls-to-the-wall career? The beauty of the modern publishing world is that there is room for everybody's dreams.

I'm enjoying putting little Easter eggs in the manuscript. I put my friend's names in there, or I use mutated versions of people I'm holding grudges against and those characters usually die.
