Stephanie M. Allen Interesting question. My self-published books are "print on demand" from Amazon. I've had several copies of those over the years, though less than 100 in my personal possession. My publishing company sent me 20 copies of "Dueling Fates" and "Divided Fates" when they were first published. I currently have copies of "Heiress of Sun and Blood" on order and should receive those soon. I would say I'm becoming more well-known as an author, thanks to TikTok and Instagram. But I wouldn't say I'm a best seller by any means. Still an up-and-coming author, if you will.
Stephanie M. Allen Well, hello! Currently, I have four books coming in the future. I started writing the sequel to "Heiress of Sun and Blood" this week. It's called "King of Ice and Misery". There will be two more books in that series, currently untitled. Also, I've started the third book in the "Dueling Fates" series. That one is called "Destructive Fates" and is the final book. After that, who knows? I will continue to write whatever ideas come to mind. I will most likely continue writing fantasy romance for adults, though. Now that I've stepped into that world, I don't think I want to leave it.
Stephanie M. Allen I would go to Prythian for sure! I'm a HUGE fan of Sarah J. Maas. The ACOTAR series is my favorite and I would love to visit the world and learn about the faeries!
Stephanie M. Allen I definitely plan on finishing Rae Carson's "Girl of Fire and Thorns" trilogy. Also will read some more of Maggie Stiefvater's books.
Stephanie M. Allen I deal with writer's block in different ways. Sometimes, I scrap the chapter I'm working on and start it over. Sometimes I turn on Pandora and listen for new inspiration. And sometimes, I just leave my current project alone and work on something completely different.
Stephanie M. Allen Don't set a goal of becoming the next J. K. Rowling or Stephenie Meyer. Write because you have stories that you want to share with the world. Don't write the current trends in the literary world. Write your passion. Find inspiration in the world around you or draw from your own experiences in life. Give your characters realistic traits. You'll be amazed at the outcome when you put yourself into your characters.
Stephanie M. Allen I have a playlist of songs for each project I work on. Music is my biggest muse and each manuscript I write has a different flavor of music. "Harmony" had a playlist similar to that which you would find on a "Twilight" movie soundtrack. For my current project, the band named Within Temptation has been my biggest influence by far.
Stephanie M. Allen "Harmony" actually came about in multiple ways. For years, I've wanted to write a portal fantasy with a cave origin. After moving across country and seeing Cave In Rock, IL, I realized I had found the inspiration I needed. I'm also a huge fan of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and love the idea of bending. I wanted to take that idea and make it more my own.
Stephanie M. Allen I am working on the first novel in a high fantasy series geared more toward adults called "Dueling Fates". The story centers around twin princesses and the tragedies that catapult them onto different journeys.
