Shirley Penick I love to see a story come together. It starts out with a vague idea and little by little it evolves into a full world of people and emotions, fun and failure, joy and sorrow, and of course love (since I write romance). The creative process is just so darn much fun!
Shirley Penick Just do it! You can't lose anything by trying it. Take classes, join writing groups, go to conferences, read books to learn the craft, then just put your butt in the seat and your fingers on the keyboard. You've got books inside you that we want to read!
Shirley Penick Book #3 in the Lake Chelan trilogy named Smokin'. It's about a children's book author and a restaurant owner. The restaurant catches fire and the author is a volunteer firefighter who rescues her from the smoke that's in her apartment above the restaurant. I just got to the black moment! I plan to publish this in the summer 2017.

The Rancher's Lady is a prequel to the series, out now. Book #1 is Sawdust and Satin out now and book #2 is Designs on Her ready to go to the editor with plans to publish in the spring.
Shirley Penick I write beginning to end, I don't skip around. Usually when I get writer's block it's about a specific scene and how to handle it. So I put in a comment for what needs to happen and then go on to the next scene. After I get to "The End" I go back and fix those scenes I left out. Unless I get some kind of brilliant idea for one of those skipped scenes, then I go back and fix it right away.
