What's Miami like for a writer?
In coastal Miami the light has a silver quality, and the great expanse of water and sky mirror each other. The light is both blinding and revealing. It blinds some to our flaws and reveals to others stories waiting to be told. Miami disproves F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, “There are no second acts in American lives.” In Miami there are second acts, third acts… as many as one needs to get it right. As a borderland, there's an ebb and flow of cultures from the north and the south (and east and west). The language spoken and the stories told contain echoes of those other cultures, but the voices are uniquely Miami.
