Thanks for the question. I'm not really into fantasy, though I've read some great fantasy texts. My 'gut' instinct was to go with Frank Baum's Oz. Yes, I know I'd only get myself into trouble there with witches, flying monkeys and dodgy wizards but who wouldn't want to see the Munchkins, Glinda and the Emerald City? There is a reason that story endures - it is so magical. I'm not sure what I would do there but I think it would become apparent before too long, as it did for poor old Dorothy.

It's almost winter in Australia, so summer is a little far off but if I were about to go on summer holiday, I'd like to read the new Kate Forsyth book which is out soon - Beauty in Thorns.

It's a mystery how I survived so many years in a career that didn't give me the chance to write. There is definitely a novel in this but I'll have to write it under a pseudonym, I think :)

Ah, Debbie. I've only just seen your question. Thanks for asking.
I'm working on a children's short story submission for an anthology that will be published by Creative Kids Tales later this year. It's about magic beans and yes, it's inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk but really about a little boy's imaginative interpretation of his vegetable gardening efforts :-)

When I look at the classics it's Scarlett and Rhett and Cathy and Heathcliff... doomed lovers who couldn't get it right! What does that say about me and my penchant for melodrama?

Step away and try to seek some new inspiration. That's a hard one...

Feeling like I'm doing what I'm meant to be doing. Truly enjoying my work and feeling like its natural to be doing this.

Being an aspiring writer myself, it's be brave enough to back yourself and self-publish if you don't find a trade publisher who will back your first book. It's a financial investment but you maintain control over your book and having something in print will hopefully make you more of an attractive prospect for publishers in the future.

I have two more picture books I have written and would love to publish but I am concentrating on finding an audience for Daddy and the World's Longest Poo at the moment. The other stories are similar in nature so let me know if you'd like to read more from me.

Most often from real life. I love observing human behaviour and I enjoy putting a satirical spin on it.

From life! Someone in the house is rather partial to spending lots of time on the toilet. Do you know anyone like that?
