What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Sylvie Parizeau I am the quintessential daydreamer. Getting lost in stories.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Sylvie Parizeau When you're there, it's an overwhelming, panicky feeling. To counteract, I give myself permission to step aside for a few days, or a week, depending. I read loads of romances for the pure enjoyment of it, without any agenda, take long walks in the forest and let the characters play in my head, outside the outline. In my mind they frequently just … enjoy each other with no other purpose than being in the moment, happy. It helps.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Sylvie Parizeau There are so many things to consider in today’s publishing industry, and the overload of information circulating is overwhelming. At least, for me it was. Find a one-on-one coach that will guide you through the publishing steps (and kick your butt when and where needed) and will connect you to reliable resources. Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Sylvie Parizeau I love pen pal stories and any time I come across one, I just have to read it. I knew I had to write one myself some day. Exposure, P.O.'s story, coming up this November 22, is the result. :) I fell in love with P.O. and Aurèle that much more while writing their story and I hope you will too.

How do you get inspired to write?
Sylvie Parizeau Do I have a writing ritual? I guess I do. Aside from drinking (way too much) organic Guarana caffeine, I have a writing/reading nook upstairs with a window seat and a view of the forest. A view I’m more than happy to share en direct from my winter wonderland on my home page.

It’s a quiet room. A peaceful room. When I step into that room, I step into an alternate universe, and it puts me in the frame of mind needed. I let the surrounding beauty infuse me.
