I have been fortunate to very rarely suffer from any writer's block. With a wife, two small children and a job my windows to write are smallish. I squeeze in as many nights as I can a week but still I'd say if I make it to ten hours in a week that would be on the high end. I think these small windows that I so look forward to help with preventing writers block.

If you have been thinking about trying it just go for it. The only regret I have is that I didn't start earlier in life.

I recently completed and published the third and final (I think) book in the Star Marshals series. I am currently working on a short story collection. It has been a fun change after nearly three years of working on one series of novels to writing short stories. Soon I plan to select an idea from my idea journal for a novel to begin working on as well. The short stories are too fun to stop though so I will continue to work on those on the side as I work on the next novel.

For most of my adult life I had thought about trying writing as a hobby. In October of 2015 I was on a walk with my one year old daughter and the idea for the Star Marshals series hit me like a bolt of lightning. I ran the stroller home as fast as I could and jumped in the car with my daughter. We raced to the local chain drugstore and I bought a small notebook to keep track of the ideas as they poured in.
Over the next three weeks I could not shut it off. I was even waking up from dead sleep in the middle of the night to add to the notebook. I started to read articles and blogs on what to do from there to start the process of actually writing a book. I discovered there was a mountain of advice out there and the mountain had many different techniques that writers employed. The stories that resonated the most for me were of writers who had no real organized outline process. They said they simply had their ideas and notes and then started writing and let the story unfold. So that is what I did. It was perfect for me. I fell head over heels in love with writing and have not stopped.
The most recent book published is the second book of the three part Star Marshals series. I feel like I made some decent strides as a writer from book one to book two. I am targeting a release for book three in late spring or early summer of 2018.
If you decide to give the Star Marshals series a try I hope you have as much fun reading them as I did writing them.
