C.B. Stagg I feel like this is a trick question... Of course, my answer would be Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp Randal Fraser. Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon, is my absolute favorite book in the entire world. I reference Outlander in my first book, 'An Ordinary Fairy Tale,' and even named a character after Claire.
C.B. Stagg I think what I love most is letting my imagination take over and watching the story come to life in my head... As I'm typing, the chapter plays in my mind's eye and seeing Vaughn, Casey, Julian and all the others live and breathe in my head and that is a thrill!
C.B. Stagg Music, quotes, and taking a break! Inspiration will strike when you least expected it, so stop expecting it!
C.B. Stagg Start typing. The first thing I ever really wrote was the prologue to An Ordinary Fairy Tale... I should mention that there aren't even traces of that prologue in the final draft, but it set the stage.... write every idea down. Keep a list of book ideas on your phone, when you think of a great line, text it to yourself... look for inspiration EVERYWHERE! But don't stop, don't ever stop and I know the vulnerability associated with releasing a book into the world, but don't let that deter you! Believe in yourself and amazing things can happen!
C.B. Stagg Currently, I am working like a mad woman to get the first draft of Book 2 finished. This book will give readers the backstory of Becky and Jase, as well as pick up where we left off in book one... oh what tangled webs we weave... I can't wait to share it with you!
C.B. Stagg Great question! Writing inspired me to write. I realize that makes no sense. When I take a break from writing... say a few days, possibly weeks, I wonder if I'll ever go back to it. But then, something prompts me to open that In Progress document and I become a writing machine, obsessed with getting each word, each idea down before I lose it. It's a vicious cycle, but I can appreciate the ebb and flow of the process so I can have some down time.
C.B. Stagg For this book, I pulled lots of small moments from my life and the lives of those close to me... I outlined the book ahead of time, but it didn't turn out ANYTHING like I expected. My characters took on a life of their own and once I let them free, the story flowed right out.
